All very good advice - stress & fear is terrible for the immune system so basic self care is to prioritise work life balance, rest, relaxation & enjoying life
So much insight, and joy, in this - thank you! We went to the Isle of Wight in June - just heaven to have the sea all around... And I love time-blocking too. So good for my exec-functioning!
Hey Simon, like you my leave was impactful, but unlike you I went to the Black Mountains and one valley where there is still no mobile signal (although I fear next year there will be as the Home Office are putting in a mast) for my digital detox.
One thing I suffer from at work is my inability to complete projects! Not through my lack of skills ;) but more to do with the complexity of the system and multitude of partners I'm working with.
What was transformational about my leave was that each day I had a 'project' (a mountain walk), there were milestones (literal and metaphorical), there were project changes (new routes or getting lost) but, at the end of each day I had completed the project, reviewed the day and signed it off!
I can't tell you how refreshing that was, and the next day was another project. I completed and signed off 5 projects that week!
Reflecting on that I'm aware of how many 'open projects' we are all juggling and how many new projects rock up each week (and apologies for putting some of those your way!).
5 completed Projects in a week! That is some sort of record! You and I need to work on a walking project ourselves soon! I suppose the important point is that no matter what the project, however long, we’ we’ve got to take some time to take in the view. 😁
